ANA SUPPORTS THE FOLLOWING IN THE 109th CONGRESS

 

 

  1. Ban the use of immigrant nurses to solve our nursing shortage and efforts to weaken certification requirements.

 

  1. Significantly increase funding for nursing workforce development.

 

  1. Immediate adjustment of SNF RN staffing ratios.

 

  1. Standardized and public reporting of nurse staffing systems and require public reporting of nurse staffing levels.

 

  1. The limitation of mandatory OT hours a n urse may be required to work.

 

  1. The right to OT compensation for nurses.

 

  1. Protection for nurses who speak out about activities or conditions that threaten the health and safety of their patients or environment.

 

  1. Nurses’ right to a safe and secure workplace.

 

  1. Immediate Congressional action to allow OSHA to implement and enforce ergonomic standards.

 

  1. Increased funding for the National Institute of Nursing Research at NIH.
