BOARD MEETING –October 20, 2006

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

ASPAN’S Communications:

· ASPAN received endorsement of its Clinical Practice Guideline for the Prevention and/or Management of PONV/PDNV from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

· ASPAN is approved through ANCC when approving education for CEUs. As of October 1, 2006 one CEU is equivalent to 60 minutes.

· Diane Bradley resigned from ASPAN management team as of September 15th.

· ASPAN welcomes Eileen Zeigler as the new Member Services Manager beginning October 2^nd.

· Research Poster for National Conference in Anaheim due October 31^st.

· Successful Practice for National Conference due November 15^th.

· ASPAN Willingness to serve forms due October 31, 2006.

CBSPAN UPDATES:

· Mellaknese Coker, RN, CPAN, CAPA (Baltimore district) was granted $1000 BSN Degree Scholarship by ASPAN.

· Tanya Spiering, Christine Price and Mary Ann Sosnowski attended the ASPAN Leadership Institute in September.

· Thank you to the Western Maryland district for organizing the Fall State Seminar.
