CELEBRATE SUCCESSFUL PRACTICES – CBSPAN’s abstract, CBSPAN Website: The Key to Success has been selected for poster presentation at the 24^th National Conference in Chicago.

RESEARCH GRANTS AVAILABLE:

Funds are available to support an ASPAN member’s research program related to perianesthesia nursing practice. Applications must be received in the National Office by 1/15/05 to be awarded at the 2005 National Conference.

Julianne F. Harp, BSN, RN, CPAN (WMD), was awarded a research grant for, “Management of Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting in the Ambulatory Patient with the use of Acupressure Bands”. She will participate in the research poster grand rounds at the National Conference.

Member–Get–A-Member campaign 2005 – 2006 theme will be “Diversity”

2005 will mark ASPAN’s Silver Anniversary – Calling for headshot pictures of ASPAN’s members in scrubs from different backgrounds, cultures, ages and gender. DEADLINE March 1, 2005. See attachment.

ASPAN Career Center – requesting 3 members from each component to post their resumes. An award will be presented at the National Conference to the component posting the most resumes. See ASPAN Website for details.
ASPAN PRESIDENTIAL UPDATE:

The Commission Briefing of the Health and Government Operations Committee (HGO)is scheduled on January 21, 2005 at1 pm, Lowe House Building, HGO Committee Room (160). Encourage support of RNs and friends to attend the briefing.

PERIANESTHESIA DATA ELEMENTS

ASPAN will launch in Spring, 2005. Purpose is to provide standardized documentation practice, education, outcome measures, and the ability to build hard data sets based on EBP.

Make sure all districts continue to work on their 2004 Revenue and Expense reports – each district should have the disc and the information to report month by month. Chris will do the definition sets for each line item on the spread sheets to share with all Districts.

Congratulations to Susan Bonner, BSN, RN, CPAN, (DCD), the 2004 CBSPAN “Excellence in Clinical Practice Award” winner. Best wishes to Susan as she represents CBSPAN at the National level.
