CBSPAN BOARD MEETING

           Are two medical search sites that  provide medical information which

           is helpful when doing research.

ASPAN PRESIDENTIAL UPDATE:

 

-         Component Financial Aid Policy and Procedure, new as of November, 2004. See attachment dated 1/18/05 for more information.

 

-         Dissemination of a Governmental Affairs Primer

 

-         Creation of ASPAN Evidenced Based Practice Model

 

 

CPAN/CAPA

 

-         Next test date 4/17/05. Check ABPANC Web site for more information.

 

ASPAN’S 24TH NATIONAL CONFERENCE

 

-         Vision in Action” -  In Chicago to be held April 17 – 21, 2005.

Component Night, Sunday April, 17 from 6:30 – 9:30 pm please plan to come for the Chicago “Blues” Festival in casual attire and let the fun begin!

 

“12 Step Meeting Room” set aside at happy hour time, Monday-Wednesday @ 5 pm. This is not an ASPAN event but ASPAN has given permission to place in the daily newsletter “Particulars”. This is for recovering nurses or those interested in recovering from addiction.  ASPAN was kind enough to reserve a room. The format is the Standard 12-Step meeting with anonymity.

 

ASPAN Scholarship Brochure/Application is available online @ ASPAN’s Web site or request from National Office. Application must be submitted by mail. Postmark deadline, July 1, 2005.

 

Education Approver Manual revision available

 

ASPAN Stars – Recognize outstanding members who make a difference at the Component level. They will be recognized at the National Conference by names being placed on a poster board in front of the registration desk.

 

 

CBSPAN UPDATE:

 

          GLCYA – 2005 – Application submitted by Component President.

 

          ABPANC Advocacy Award – nominee submitted from CBSPAN

 

-         By Laws revision 6.8 under ARTICLE VI COMMITTEES was approved for the Marketing/Publications Committee

 

-         Membership list – Component treasurer will forward to District Presidents and CBSPAN VP on a regular basis to assist with membership issues at the district level.

 

-         “Visions of PeriAnesthesia Nurses in Action”: PANAW

      February 7 – 13, 2005.  CBSPAN Highlight of Events

 

-         Follow up on Incorporation Bill - $25 if paid by March 1, 2005?

 

-         Component Night – Discussion and planning

 

-         CBSPAN to donate $500 to ASPAN Foundation at the national Conference. Component and each district will contribute $100, please forward to Connie Gull.

 

-         ASPAN Foundation Silent Auction at National Conference – item/discussion

 

-         CBSPAN Fall Seminar 2005 will be hosted by Baltimore District, October 1 at St. Joseph Medical Center – Contact person?

 

 

Kudos to CBSPAN members

 

Chris Price wrote a lecture series, Educating the Educator; A BluePrint for Success, for the Education Provider Committee. First lecture on February 12, 2005 in Joliet, Illinois.

 

Chris also presented the first management lecture series on October 23, 2004 in West Islap, New York on Management: Now You’re the Boss!

 

Congratulations to all the CBSPAN members for a record number of Successful Practice Poster Presentations accepted for the National Conference.

 

Kathy Paskewitz will be a presenter for the Item Writing Workshop at the National Conference.

 

CBSPAN positions for VP/President Elect and Secretary are needed.
