BOARD MEETING –July 8, 2006

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

 

ASPAN’S Communications:

 

·        ASPAN granted honorary status to Marisa L. Wilson who is spearheading a PDE project for ASPAN.  She will also be an honorary member of CBSPAN.  Per Chris Price, Marisa will be working with Denise O’Brien on building a universal language for PeriAnesthesia Nurses.  Marisa is from the University of Maryland and has just received her doctorate.

·        Research Poster for National Conference in Anaheim due October 31st

·        Successful Practice for National Conference due November 15th

·        Pam Windle’s vision for excellence is to promote safety within perianesthesia practice.  Seeking research and successful practice on promoting a safe environment for our nurses and patients.

·        ASPAN has a new policy regarding seminars that they co-sponsor: they will contact the Component when members are requesting for a co-sponsoring  seminar to see if there is a conflict of date with the Component’s  annual seminar.  The President will have five days to respond to this email.

·        CPAN/CAPA Exam deadline September 3, 2006

·        ASPAN Component Development Institute 2006 “Continuing Our Journey to Excellence:  Through Writing for Publication, Research and EBP

     September 15-17, 2006 at Bloomington, Minnesota.

 

 

 

CBSPAN UPDATES:

·        Graze has taken over as CBSPAN interim Treasurer until an official

Ballot is mailed to the membership.

·        Foundation donation given in Honor of CBSPAN members during the National conference Foundation Luncheon.
