Eastern Shore District
June 30, 2006
Twenty three ESD members
attended the National Conference in Orlando. Membership
continues to be our focus.
At the June 26th meeting Maryann and Judy presented
the idea of a membership
drive. This will be further explored at the summer
ESD board meeting.
June 26th meeting was held
at the First State Orthopedic Surgery Center in
Newark,De. Despite a torrential downpour, 14 nurses
attended. There were
13 members and 1 potential
member in attendance. Of those 14, 4 were from
the Pre Admission Testing
area, 3 First State Surgicenter, 2 perianesthesia
educators, 1 surgical
clinical specialist, 1 manager and 2 staff nurses,
quite a diverse group.
July and August district
meetings will not be conducted, but will resume in
September. The Christiana
Surgicenter has offered to host and has arranged a
speaker, Dr.
Despirido,Urologist, who will discuss slings.

Newsletter: Automated this
year, labels to be made to permit the newsletter
to be sent. Time is still a
challenge to send in a timely manner. At the
June meeting, members were
asked to consider participating on a committee
for the newsletter or
education. Assistance is needed.
The CBSPAN newsletter will
be sent bianually, unless something different is
decided at the board
meeting..Please submit any information to Maryann at
masosnowski@christianacare.org
or Judy Long julong@christianacare.org
This has been an exciting
year for the ESD. Even though time continues to be
an obstacle to overcome, the
district has achieved some success. We have had
the first ambulatory
surgicenter become actively involved and host a
meeting, the Blue Rocks
Fundraising events have been enjoyed by many and
offers a yearly
opportunity(s) to participate, a profitable spring seminar,
23 attendees at ASPAN and an
automated newsletter. Each year is an
opportunity to learn and
grow, I look forward to the next year and increase
in membership and
participation.
Respectfully,
Maryann Sosnowski
