2. Florida Nurses Association
Seeks Executive Director

After more
than 30 years at FNA, Paula Massey announced her retirement to the
Florida Nurses Association (FNA) Board of Directors. The Board of
Directors have appointed a Search Committee.
The Committee is looking for a person with a Bachelors degree in
either nursing, management or a related field. A graduate degree is
preferred. They have stipulated that the applicant must have five
years experience in administration, leadership, personnel
management, planning program and/or continuing education activities.
A registered nurse is preferred.

3. National Patient Safety
Awareness Week - March 4-10

The
Department of Health & Human Services' (HHS) Agency for
Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) joined with The Advertising
Council today (3/7/07) to launch a national public service
advertising campaign designed to encourage adults to take a more
proactive role in their health care. The campaign is being launched
during national Patient Safety Awareness Week (March 4-10, 2007).

The American Nurses
Association is proud to continue its efforts focusing national
attention on the plight of the millions of uninsured Americans. ANA
is one of the founding partners of Cover the Uninsured Week, which
is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Now in its fifth
year, Cover the Uninsured Week (April 23-29) brings together
individuals and organizations from all 50 states and the District of
Columbia to demand that our nation’s leaders find solutions for the
more than 46 million Americans living without health insurance.

5. Take the Center's Conflict
Survey

of nurses related to conflict and conflict resolution in the
workplace. The study is being sponsored by the Center for American
Nurses. The purpose of the survey is to identify the challenges
related to conflict encountered by nurses in practice in an effort
to develop resources for nurses facing conflict in the workforce.

6. ANA Urges New Tests for
Philippine Nurses Seeking to Practice in the U.S.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) is
urging the Philippine government to facilitate a retake of the nurse
licensure exam without penalty for the nurses who passed the June
2006 examination. Following investigations by both the Commission on
Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) and the Philippine
government, it was discovered a portion of the 500 question exam was
known to a large number of examinees prior to the exam being
administered.
