For July 26, 2008 BOD Meeting

Meetings:

April meeting held at Frederick Memorial Hospital... Educational topic was “Acupuncture- A Healing Philosophy” presented by Nancy Smith, RN, licensed Acupuncturist..

May meeting held at Washington County Hospital. Educational topic presented: “Difficult Airway Management.”

June meeting was a dinner meeting held at Next Dimensions Restaurant. Scott Spingnall, a rep from Kendall, sponsored our meeting and presented the educational program: “Preventing Venous Thromboembolism, A Guide to Nursing Intervention.”

Activities:

Five members attended the National Conference in Texas. Western MD District covered the cost of the registration and airfare for 3 members- Christine, Julianne, and Melanie; cost of my registration, airfare and hotel; and cost of airfare for Joy.

Results of March 8^th ½ day seminar received and showed overall rating of 3.77 out of 4. Linda Altizer was noted to be a knowledgeable, excellent speaker. Suggestions included: actual court cases, PACU issues and courtroom replication, simulate a disposition.

Community service- Annamarie is collecting medical supplies at FMH for mission trip to Liberia - she had been hoping to go on the trip, but had insufficient funds to go. It was decided to have the following schedule for 2008-2009. Meetings are to start at 7 PM with the speaker, followed by business meeting and light refreshments. No dinners before meeting.
